“Keeping” His Commands

Demonstrating My Love For Jesus

Jesus said, “Those who know my commands and obey them are the ones who love me, and my Father will love those who love me.”
John 14:21 NCV

Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

In case you ever wondered what it would take to walk in God’s favor and approval, your search is over. Jesus
Himself made it very clear. For about three years, He taught a new spiritual doctrine on hillsides and at dinner
tables, at weddings, funerals, and religious gatherings. If His only role in life was to offer eternal life as the
Messiah, He could have gone to the cross much earlier than He did. Instead, He modeled sonship with His
Father and encouraged us to imitate Him. He also spoke of the glories of His coming Kingdom while showing
compassion for the sick and the maimed. It appears He looked for two simple qualities in those who claimed
to be His authentic followers: the willingness to learn and then implement His teachings. In doing so, His
followers would be solely focused on the Father’s will and they would develop the character qualities of the
Lord Jesus.
This exercise is devoted to identifying many of His clearest commands and documenting how we will
personally adopt them into our value system and our decision-making.
